Well, about three hours ago I wrote the post below titled "It's Done, It's Done!", meaning our home study is finally done. I was handed our notarized home study papers by our social worker at around 4:15pm today March 9, 2012. At around 6:00pm my grandson's other grandmother came to pick him up for the weekend. She had her huge GMC SUV parked in our driveway still running but in park...or so she thought. As we were standing inside my side door talking we heard this horrible noise. We couldn't figure out what it was until we saw her truck go by my side door grinding it's way down the side of my house. It finally came to a stop, just missing our electrical thingy which supplies the electric to our home. WOW!

Amazingly there wasn't too much damage done to either our house or her vehicle. I was thinking my siding was gone by the way it sounded but only our side door was demolished and her mirror was too. Other than that we both have skid marks.

The toughest part was getting her truck off our house without causing more damage. My husband managed it. He thinks very clear in tough situations. I'm grateful for that! Sometimes I can panic under situations like that and I know the other grandmother was panicked as well.

Guess what we're doing this weekend...you guessed it, shopping for a new side door! LOL! The other grandmother wrote us a check for the door. I told her not to worry about the rest because I think I can clean up the skid marks. I have discovered the power of the cleaner "Mean Green".

This is life when Satan rules the world. I say, "Come Lord Jesus"!

Our home study is done and our home was hit by a truck.

  1. WOW. You have the kind of luck I have. You just can't make this kind of stuff up! Is there anything I can do? I'm not particularly handy, but my 17 year old brother is, and I know my way around paint and spackle...

So now, do they have to re-do or update the home study? Or do you just have to repair the damage before they'll submit your paperwork? Or does it not affect anything official, just one more stressor? In any case, my prayers and offer to help in whatever way I can are all yours. I can honestly say that even though my house often LOOKS like it's been hit by a truck, it never actually has... just a variety of kids ages 2 months to 12 years. LOL.

I'm ready for you to bring your girl HOME! Or at least pics from when you meet her the first time! How do we speed things up here?? I can't imagine how anxious you must be to get her home... she's not even my baby and I'm impatient!

Well, for what it's worth, you'll sure have an interesting tale to add to her adoption story...

  2. I appreciate your help Katie! But it turns out that the grandmother submitted it to her insurance so everything is going to get fixed.

I'm ready to bring Anastasia home too! Waiting is soooo hard.

  3. Thank goodness no one was hurt in that accident. I guess you've already bought a new side door for that. Anyway, how's her GMC now?

  4. Adam,
I haven't talked to her but I'm sure her GMC is doing OK. There wasn't that much damage done to her vehicle. Some minor scraping that can probably be rubbed out and a ding in the front fender. Her mirror needs a new back.
It's something we can both laugh about. No one was hurt and property can be replaced.
Her insurance came out and we'll have our damaged siding and trim replaced as well as the money for the door.
